Here’s an old short I created way back when I was at the University of Bradford. It was heavily influences by Pixar’s early short films.
The story centres around the idea of various household items coming to life when no-one is around and on this occasion decide to have a race between themselves.
The ‘MaxCool’ anti-perspirant spray is of course the coolest of the three characters, pretty much oblivious to anything or anyone and will win the race even if that means breaking the rules a little.
The ‘Wine Glass’ is portrayed as being a bit scatty and nervous and perhaps a little out of its league, easily impressed and a little overwhelmed by the other two.
The central character, the ‘Wooden Toy’ is a show-off, plays by the rules, would certainly never cheat and is confident of winning against these two inferior competitors.
The catchy, bouncy music was courtesy of the super talented musician/sound engineer, Andy Johnson, resident composer/audio engineer at Crush! Ltd back in 1996; It was added several years after the original short had been created.. I defy anyone to not have this tune fixed in their brain after hearing it a few times.. it’s just so damn catchy.
